Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative (MEC) and EMPOWER Broadband, in conjunction with Halifax County, are preparing an application to the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI) Grant Funding to extend high-speed broadband to two areas: from Meadville to the County line along Highway 57 and also along Alphonse Dairy Road. Approximately, 217 premises will be served with fiber-optic cable.
