Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative has
an excellent reputation for keeping power on 99.97% of the time;
however, Mother Nature can cause havoc to
our electrical system in a matter of
minutes. Because our member-owners live and
farm in rural Virginia, many miles of electric lines
exposed to any weather condition. A cooperative representative
will work with member-owners or licensed electricians to
correctly determine what size generator they may need to keep
their home or farm with electrical current during an extended
outage. With our new meter technology we can now determine the
maximum kW a residential account is using over time, which will
help members determine the correct size
generator that will be needed. MEC members
can contact their local district office for
more details.
