2009 Gaff-n-Go Lineman's Rodeo

    Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative (MEC) participated in the 7th Annual Gaff-n-Go lineman’s Rodeo held at Liberty University
in Lynchburg on April 3rd. There were three-man teams and apprentice linemen in competition from electric cooperatives, municipals, investor-owned utilities, and utility contractors. They came from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Georgia, Ohio, New Hampshire and the Carolinas.
    This is the fouth year that MEC has participated in the Gaff-n-Go in Lynchburg, Va. The purpose is to promote safe working practices. The event showcases the special qualities needed to be a lineman — discipline, good training, teamwork and confidence.
All events are timed, but performing the tasks with the fewest safety infractions is what is most important in achieving a winning score.
    Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative employees Jason McKinney, Clint Card and Joe Hostetter receive the second-place award from the competition in the Mystery Event #2 - Underground Primary Cable Replacement.
