Each year Mecklenburg Electric
Cooperative (MEC) awards $500
scholarships to students at nine high
schools throughout its service
territory. The scholarships are offered
exclusively to graduating seniors who
will be continuing their education by
attending an accredited institution of
higher learning to obtain a two-year
associate or four-year bachelor’s
degree, and whose parents or legal
guardians are served by MEC. To be
eligible, the student must have
maintained at least a 3.0 grade-point
average (based on 4.0 being an A)
throughout his or her high school
career, exhibited commendable leadership
abilities, and demonstrated exemplary
school spirit. In addition, further
consideration is based on the student’s
unrewarded merit. Recipients are
selected by the guidance department at
each high school.

Christian Bowlin – Bluestone High School
Marina Clements – Brunswick High School
Javon Davis – Park View High School
Rebecca Hodnett – Chatham High School
