Growing Awareness: MEC Celebrates Arbor Day with Students
MEC marked Arbor Day by planting flowering dogwood trees at Clarksville Elementary School and Kenston Forest School, combining environmental stewardship with student education.
Before the planting, staff presented an interactive program to third-grade students, highlighting the vital role trees play in protecting the environment and supporting healthy communities. Following the presentation, Evan Stembridge, MEC senior right-of-way coordinator, and Seth Bowen of Green Acres Lawn & Landscaping Service demonstrated proper tree-planting techniques, ensuring the dogwoods were planted for long-term success.
“Being part of these students’ learning experience and sharing our commitment to tree-friendly practices is something we truly value,” said MEC Vice President of Member and Energy Services David Lipscomb.
MEC has been recognized as a Tree Line USA Utility by the Arbor Day Foundation for 12 consecutive years, reflecting the cooperative’s ongoing dedication to responsible vegetation management and environmental care.
